Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Run to win

Happy Saturday lovelies! No new workouts to share, these last few days have just consisted of a mixture of Ab ripper, jump rope (still working towards 30 minutes), walks, etc...

Just read a cool devotion yesterday and wanted to share a bit with you. I think this can definitely be applied to our health/fitness journeys...

"...run in such a way as to get the prize." -1 Corinthians 9:24

To win in life requires 3 things:
  1. you must start
  2. you must give it your all
  3. you must never quit

Today is a rest day for me. Have a lovely day lovelies. May He bless your rest, your workout, your time with loved ones, etc.

Ab Ripper

Ok lovelies, here's today's workout as promised. Just finishes, it's intense-as. Only managed to do 15-20 reps of most exercises. Skipped a few exercises. Excited to keep doing this...

Ab Ripper
25 reps each
  • in and out
  • bicycles
  • reverse bicycle
  • crunchy frog
  • cross leg/wide sit ups
  • scissors
  • hip butt ups
  • heels to heaven
  • roll up v-ups
  • leg climbers
  • kayakers (50 reps)
  •  cool down: cobra stretch and child's pose
Full workout details HERE.

Also through in some cardio with a leisurely walk and a bit of jump rope. I highly recommend getting a jump rope by the way - cheap, portable, and burns heaps of calories (~300 per 30 minutes). I'm going to try and jump rope 30 minutes a day, just in smaller chunks. Join me if you like - consider it the challenge for the week.

Enough reading. Go get your sweat on!

Hi lovelies! I know, I know, I haven't posted in a few days. Utmost apologies. Unfortunately I have not worked out in 4 days either. But today is a new day! Don't get discouraged if this happens to you - just try again tomorrow. I found a new ab routine that sounds intense that I'm going to try this afternoon, and then post details. Promise.

To tide you over til then...

Hi lovelies! Here's a workout I found to do yesterday...

  • 100 jumping jacks
  • 40 lunges
  • 40 squats
  • 100 high knees
  • 40 butt kicks
  • 20 normal step ups
  • 20 sideways step ups
  • 20 plank with knee tuck
  • 100 crunches
  • 10 min jump rope
I'll be honest, I looked at this and didn't think it looked too intense, but that I could do this a few times. Well, around the 40th jumping jack I began to slow down. Finished all except only did 50 crunches and 3 minutes jump rope. Maybe the routine is intense, probably I am just really out of shape. Prepare to sweat lovelies.

And just remember, slow progress is progress. No matter how slow you go, you are still overlapping everyone on the couch.

words from a wise woman

"I don't care about being stick-thin. I don't want stuff to jiggle. Really skinny actresses make me hungry—I see them and think, Honey, you need to eat! I'm lucky I don't have to live like that. I feel my best when I'm a toned, not flabby, size 8. Women come up to me and say, 'You're beautiful and confident, and that makes me feel I can be, too.'" -Miranda Lambert

Love Handle Love & Ab Attack

Hey lovelies! Here's an intense workout for the day...

8 rounds of the following as fast as you can.
  • prisoner squat to knee up...20 reps
  • santana pushup...10 reps
  • jump rope, high knees, butt kicks or some kind of cardio...100
  • plank knee tucks...20 reps
 For full instructions go HERE.

I just finished it - only made it thru 5.5 rounds and it is intense - you will definitely work up a sweat. I forgot to check the clock when I finished, but I think it took me around 25 minutes including some rest in between rounds. I found it challenging but awesome. My body is exhausted. Which, I think, it should be after a good workout. I'll definitely be keeping this one, and working towards being able to do 8 rounds.

And then I went to eat lunch, and realized that I wasn't actually too hungry, but more so just really programmed to eat at a certain time. So I ate 1/2 my lunch and set the rest aside for later...which I'll probably eat now. So tip of the day: don't eat unless you're actually hungry.

Also apologies - I wanted to post some post-workout pics of me in my sweaty glory so you could see that I am, indeed, a real average person. But turned out my camera battery was low. Next time...

Let me know how you find the workout. Bless you beautiful people!

Let me introduce you...

Hey there! Thanks for checking out the birth of my new blog, here's a brief snippet of my vision for the blog...

I am a real person. I am by no means a fitness guru - actually quite the opposite. Check out some fitness videos online - notice how most of them are made by people that are ripped-as? And look like hot sweaty messes? That is not me. When I try and do what they do, I just look like a sweaty mess. Not even a hint of hot. I figured it's time to get some stuff out there from an "average" person. Whilst I know next to nothing about fitness, I'm on a journey of learning and would love to share it with you.

So, in short, here's the vision behind this blog....

  • to motivate myself and keep myself accountable in my health/fitness journey
  • to give others motivation from a real person
  • and finally a verse that hugely inspires me..." Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Stay tuned as I walk this journey. Consider me your filter - I'll only share my findings that I think are worth sharing - workouts, tips, recipes, quotes, photos, etc....
And remember no matter what, love your body. You are so beautiful as you are. This verse says it well...
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14)
